the odisha legislative assembly has passed the birla global university bill 2015 and thereby assented by the governor on 5th february by giving the legal sanction for creation of the university. the law department by its notification on 17 th february 2016, published the gazette for general information. the university, is being set up by the birla academy of art and culture (baac), kolkata. the academy is nationally reputed organisation promoting art, culture and education in india. baac has several schools around india, hospitals, temples and higher education institution such as birla institute of management technology that is on national and international map. the proposed university will aim to create high standards of knowledge creation and management and consolidate the higher educational initiatives under different schools with a fair degree of autonomy. it is envisaged that at the outset the university will have school of management, school of architecture & planning, school of
