Bitonga Travel

bitonga travel is a creative proposal, conceived by rebecca alethéia, that opens paths for the visibility of black women in transit and movement around the world. a project that was born in 2018 to share stories of black women who travel, to report these stories in a collaborative way with the aim of empowering girls and women to this dream that seems so far away. plurality is a fundamental banner so that we can include black latin american and caribbean women in the project. bitonga is a village and a bantu language of niger-congolese trunk, more specifically from the inhambane region, in mozambique. the fact that black women do not feel represented by tourism, and many of us are sometimes excluded and disregarded by hotels and other services that we have as much or more right to access than whiteness. when we look at advertising, we are not represented by the media. when we look on television, it is not our condition that is represented. so traveling the world is just a white dream?
