Black: A Festival of Joy

traditionally, black people have been described by our circumstances. by our deficit and by a funding need. it’s time that we describe ourselves by who we are and specifically, our joy. black joy is triumphant. it is bright and it is a critical component of the sustainability of us and our culture. in an effort to name, display and be black joy, a collective of volunteers representing indianapolis-based black-led organizations have come together to produce black: a festival of joy. happening on august 7th at riverside park, this music-based community affair will spark a movement to describe black people by their contribution and sustaining factor: our joy. cost: free to all! location: taggart memorial amphitheater at riverside regional park date: sunday, august 7 time: 12:00 pm – 9:00 pm rsvp at blackjoyindy.com.
