the idea behind black dog tribe originated with ruby wax and nina storms. according to research by the world health organization and the encp (european college of neuropsychopharmacology), it is estimated that over a third of people in most countries report sufficient criteria to be diagnosed with a mental illness or disorder at some point of their life. furthermore, this number is increasing and it is estimated that in 2020 it will be the world’s most disabling condition, above cancer and aids. the need for a social platform where people suffering from or involved with someone suffering from mental illness is steadily rising. a platform where people can find information, communicate with peers and find the way to professional help without the fear of being stigmatized. black dog tribe strives to become this platform.
