black like me is an organization that creates spaces where black people can find happiness, safety, support, and whatever else they need to live, as long as we have the energy and capacity to do so. we understand that everything black people do to survive on a daily basis in this world is not only a form of resistance, but also an expression of freedom. black like me started as a response to an overwhelming need for black spaces in ottawa where people can simply be, in all of the different ways we choose to exist. since its inception, we have organized many events such as orientation weeks, club nights, brunches, poetry showcases, painting events, etc. across the city.
