welcome to our page! i am tricia waechter, the founder of blind girl designs. i have retinitis pigmentosa (rp), a rare genetic eye disease that causes gradual vision loss. due to rp, i only have central vision remaining. that means i can see in front of me, but can't see anything in my peripheral vision. i also can't see in anything less than pretty bright light. that means professional sports are out for me (jokes). i use a blind cane now, and each year it gets longer, as i need a longer cane the more peripheral vision i lose. on january 1, 2021, i woke up and said “i am not giving into this disease!” blind girl designs was born out of my determination to not allow rp to steal my passion for - and career in - fashion. please follow our journey as a start up. we are so thankful that you stopped by to visit!
