the buffalo 716ers are a non-profit sports entertainment company which launched in october 2012 to bring professional basketball back to buffalo, ny. this community has not had high-level professional basketball since the end of the 1977-1978 nba season when the braves moved out west to become the clippers. the buffalo 716ers have been granted an expansion team for the 2014 season. the team name buffalo 716ers comes from using the region's telephone area code, and creating a basketball brand to proudly represent the local buffalo, ny area. the 716ers goal is to develop a winning culture which will produce championship winning teams. additionally, we strive to make our community a better place to live by supporting worthy social causes through volunteerism. the buffalo 716ers will make high level professional basketball accessible and cost effective for fans in the local area.
