the building verification council (bvc) initiative will enable the residential building industry to respond to increasingly demanding and consumer-driven technical standards, by demonstrating building performance through verification, assurance and testing, instead of just prediction and modeling alone. with building regulation non-compliance and compromised building performance acknowledged as a significant and endemic problem across australia, the bvc will help ensure that homebuyers get what they have paid for by verifying that the home design they have selected is actually built to the standard they expect, performs the way it is supposed to and is as comfortable as the sales brochures said it would be. the bvc will also offer regulators, builders, designers and certifiers certainty that the 150,000 (approx) new dwellings built in australia each year, actually comply with the codes and regulations they are meant to. the bvc will do all this with systems and procedures that greatly
