paul van cutsem graduated with a civil engineer degree in electro-mechanical engineering from the university of brussels, belgium. he obtained an intellectual property degree from ceipi (centre d’études international en propriété intellectuelle, law school of the university of strasbourg, france). he is deeply involved in the drafting and the prosecution of national, european and international patent applications and the utilization of the patents issued therefrom, as well as in the handling of patent and design conflicts and the rendering of validity and clearance opinions. in addition, he is also involved in the general maintenance of patents including all the administrative aspects connected therewith, such as watching the annuities, the deadlines for extending a basic patent protection abroad, validating european patents after grant and entering the various regional and/or national phases of an international or pct patent application through a well established net of foreign corres
