core element's goal is to improve the way math and science are taught and learned. by introducing teachers to research-based, hands-on learning opportunities for students from nationally recognized curricula, we seek to prepare students to understand the real-life applications of science and math. students gain exposure to stem careers through classroom experiences that enable and motivate them to pursue stem-related studies. through engaged learning, students come to understand the applications of stem subjects that can assist in their future careers. to meet this challenge, core element provides professional development training, teacher mentoring and curriculum materials for teachers in the greater new orleans region. to accomplish the above, core element: • provides area teachers with research-based stem professional development which enables educators to utilize available resources from gnosi to advance their teaching. • provides nationally recognized stem curriculum materials to
