the q.p.i. group is active in the development of advanced printed circuit boards (pcbs) for numerous applications and market sectors. its product range reaches from rigid multilayers up to stretchable printed circuit boards, from industrial up to medical and defence applications. q.p.i. was recently awarded with the lhbc industry award for the development and delivery of hv boards for the large hadron collider of cern in geneva. these boards are used in the amplifier of miniaturised geiger- müller counters for the detection of ionized particles and are operated at 3 kv. the development goal was to prevent disruptive discharge on or inside the hv-board, and to guarantee the performance of the special capacitors. q.p.i. reached the goal by embedding the capacitors inside the board, using alternating pcb manufacturing and -assembling processes. within the stella consortium q.p.i.’s focus is among others on the manufacturing of stretchable printed circuit boards. in collaboration with tu-b
