I Heart Humanity

i heart humanity is a not-for-profit organization, created in november of 2008, which raises funds to place volunteers in international human services projects. its founder, laura harvey of san diego, california, and its newest volunteer amy smalley, of chicago, illinois, completed three week volunteer positions at the hogar urpi boys' orphanage in ayacucho, peru and were so touched by the experience, decided to join forces and make international volunteering an on-going purpose in their lives. the organization was started by laura to help raise funds for the peru project. its earliest events included fund raisers at local san diego restaurants, a speaking engagement at the sunrise kiwanis club of vista, california, a "gotta have it" clothing fund raiser at poinsettia elementary school's christmas boutique and most notably, a party hosted by ketel one vodka at their headquarters in aliso viejo, california which featured tastings, an open ketel one bar and a very successful raffle. with
