message from pat tyman, president & founder: over the past month i have been working on the mean streets of hartford and the experience has truly opened my eyes to the poverty that plagues unemployable minorities, drug addicts, ex-convicts and the mentally/physically disabled. every morning i pass a homeless shelter on park street that is overwhelmed with hungry, tired men all day long. this daily experience led me to start a non-profit organization called i love hartford, inc. three weeks ago i started bringing enough food to three or four homeless men to last them through the day. i continued this practice every day for a solid week and the small group of men rapidly grew to upwards of thirty individuals. i started taking personal requests and began bringing them specific clothes, food, toiletries, notebooks, pens, etc. the shelters do not provide basic necessities for these men so items like toothpaste, floss, and deodorant are in high demand within the homeless community. furthermo
