take a designer hotel, safari lodge, campsite and remote island in the stockholm archipelago, roll them all into one concept, and you have the island lodge on bergholmen, a small uninhabited island once used as a mine and torpedo depot by the swedish military, 40 minutes by boat from central stockholm. in the beautiful pine forest, you find seven spacious high-tech designed tents, with wooden floors, reindeer skins, wood stoves and twin beds with luxury linens from mille notti. the tents, spread out for privacy across the island, have panoramic bay windows looking out over the islands and waterways. you have the island, two sandy beaches and rocks for swimming all to yourself. on chillier evenings in the early fall, seawater is pumped up to a wood- fired hot tub. gourmet dinner served under canvas is an extraordinary gastronomic experience itself, prepared by our star chef daniel guest.
