Istar Theatre Lab, Inc.
founded in 2012 by tony spinosa, istar theatre lab (itl) is dedicated to continuing the hearty and captivating presence of the theatre artist in our culture. our mission is to provide a safe environment for the development of contemporary plays and musicals by engaging writers to incubate new works and ideas that engage and challenge diverse audiences. this “think tank” process allows itl to develop theatrical experiences that speak about the world around us and inspire the artists as they develop their work. as a laboratory for theatrical development, itl has been able to support projects that are thematically, and methodologically diverse. among our long list of acclaimed work is tom coash's veils, an exploration of cultural differences in the muslim world, and billy butler and dan leeman’s musical gay bride of frankenstein, a pop/rock, fairy tale musical that follows the exploits of four freshmen college friends on one fateful halloween night.
