Jesus College May Ball

jesus may ball is one of the largest of the cambridge may balls which are held in june every year at the university of cambridge. it is often coined the 'freshers ball' due to the large number of freshers from other colleges that attend it. in recent years the main ents lineup has included up and coming artists such as james bay and jack garratt, as well as the college's own alumni clean bandit. the dress code for the ball is black tie and the event usually lasts from 8 o'clock in the evening to 5 o'clock the following morning, ending with a survivor's photo on the cricket pitch. being on the monday of may week means that annually jesus is the first of the three major balls to occur, with trinity may ball on the same day and john's may ball taking place on the tuesday. besides trinity, the only other ball that fall on the same night as jesus is clare may ball, which had the theme of the orient express in 2016.
