our mission is to empower residents in under served communities to take part in revitalizing their neighborhoods with positive interactions that encourage community building through the provision of meaningful visual arts learning experiences. jklm artistry is a community arts organization that mainly serves the south side communities of chicago. the benefits to this service include making art more accessible to those in underserved communities as well as helping children and their families to appreciate new ways of expression through visual arts and to have the creative spaces to do so. many children of chicago are exposed to violence very early in their lives and many become involved in unfavorable activities that can deter them from a positive path. research makes it clear that the benefits of arts education are particularly strong for low-income students. youth who have had a substantial arts education are more likely to complete college, hold good jobs, and be active in their commu
