with its initial launch in 1997, the judicial & legislative reception (jlr) began as an activity to provide a link between the community and the george mason university antonin scalia law school, its alumni and friends. the emphasis has been on creating an environment for alumni to gather and network. since that time, the jlr has become one of the premier legal events in northern virginia and is attended by attorneys, judges, legislators, and alumni from around the region. traditionally, the event is made possible through the loyal and generous support of the regional legal community. in turn, the school directs the jlr net proceeds to scalia law’s pro bono and public interest initiatives. this annual spring time event garners the attendance of upwards of 400 judges, litigators, and other legal professionals and scholars.
