Julie Thurgood Photography

born in cambridge, ontario and raised in orangeville, ontario, julie was surrounded by photography pretty much her whole life. the smell of developing chemicals was a constant in their home and to this day, a small whiff will take her back into that little dark room in the back of their house where she spent many patient hours with her father. growing up, her father always had either a camera in hand or a monkey-wrench (he was a mechanic and an auto-teacher in orangeville as well as an amateur photographer). julie always dabbled in photography over the years, but always for personal enjoyment. it took one day for a friend to ask her to shoot a wedding and a gift of a new nikon camera to take her photography to a new level. for the past 15 years, julie has focused her photography on families, weddings, and editorial work – all while quietly shooting her fine art photography as a side hobby. recently, julie decided that she needed to change direction and focus her energy on her fine art
