the word kada is a tibetan term that refers to a white, silk scarf that we use as a symbolic and literal blessing. very often in the himalayas and tibet we will offer this kada to our rinpoche (enlightened teacher), who will in return take the scarf, bless it, and drap it over necks, while our heads are bowed in reverence and gratitude. kada imports was born in 2008. the concept behind this social-entrepreneurial enterprise was simple. i wanted to provide jobs to my family, friends, and tribesman. finding a way to supporting the economy here in the us and in the himalayas came natural to me since i live in both worlds. however, things started to get more complicated as my family helped me refine this idea. what products would i sell and why? i chose products that were already culturally used because it meant we weren't creating new industries based upon a foreign demand. these are all items that are culturally used and are already an integral part of the himalayan culture. all the good
