southern nevada mensa – a local chapter of american mensa within region 9 – was founded in 1965 with four members. at the time, the group included the entire state of nevada, plus portions of california and arizona. today, southern nevada mensa has over 360 members living in the southern half of nevada, plus portions of mohave county (bullhead city, kingman, and lake havasu city), arizona. according to the mensa constitution, our purpose is three-fold: identify and foster human intelligence for the benefit of humanity. encourage research in nature, characteristics, and uses of intelligence. provide a stimulating intellectual and social environment for our members. mensa is for people of all ages who like to s-t-r-e-t-c-h their minds, take on mental challenges and enjoy the interplay of ideas. members have abundant opportunities for social interaction with like-minded folks. for a current list of upcoming events and activities, check out our calendar at the center of the southern
