oxford medistress ltd, a spin-out company from the university of oxford, has developed the copingcapacity™ stress-monitoring system that provides the first direct, objective, quantitative measurement of stress. the proprietary blood test, which works in minutes from a finger prick of blood, rapidly determines if a person is under stress by looking at how white blood cells (leukocytes) respond to an in vitro chemical challenge. the system is easily portable for use on-site at company health-screening events or for specific stress-screening days. the system is currently being used by a number of elite sports organisations including olympic swimming programmes, premiership football clubs and formula-1 racing teams. the system is also being evaluated by a number of gyms and health/fitness clubs as a value-added service to its members.
