founded in 2005 by broker/owner joy avery primarily for managing, leasing and selling commercial property, southern exposure real estate services has expanded to become a full service real estate firm serving all of northeast florida in both residential and commercial real estate. joy has selected charles “sonny” shanks to become a partner and the managing broker. sonny has over seven years of real estate experience and has served as the chairman of the florida commercial real estate alliance, the commercial division of the st. augustine and st. johns county board of realtors®. sonny is retired from the u.s. army and has over 30 years of executive leadership experience including civilian assignments in the logistics, manufacturing, hospitality and resort industries. he was born and raised in jacksonville, florida and is a graduate of both the st. johns river state college and the university of florida. southern exposure real estate services is a proud member of the st. johns county cha
