social 4 athletes was created because there is a market demand for an athlete social monitoring service. more and more you hear of athletes that tweet things they shouldn’t on twitter, or post a revealing picture on instagram. the idea behind social 4 athletes is for us to educate athletes on proper social media etiquette, create guidelines and rules for a team or program to follow, and monitor athletes through our dashboard to ensure they are adhering to the guidelines. we didn’t form social 4 athletes to be a “nark” to athletic directors and coaches, but to educate athletes on how to conduct themselves digitally, and be proactive in prevention, rather than reactive.
