social affect is poised to revolutionise the traditional ecommerce model for brick-and-mortar retailers through its “patent pending buydesire” service by drawing on the power of personalisation and mobility to create highly relevant and enjoyable experiences for shoppers. the buydesire application (app) has been designed to help retailers engage in one-to-one dialogue with registered members (shoppers) post in-store browsing to provide targeted offers and promotions based on shoppers specifically expressed needs and wants, and previous purchases. to receive an offer or promotion from a retailer, shoppers must have visited a retailer in-store, scanned a product of their choice using a barcode scanner on their mobile device, and added the item to their “desired” list. retailers then have the option to offer a discreet discount or promotion or list the item as recommended retail price only.
