having successfully navigated two teenage daughters through the transition to social media (aka digital puberty) and all the headaches that came along with it, our founder, anthony braddy, figured there was a better way. in response, social grade was born. in september 2013, after a cycle through lean startup weekend dc at 1776, he learned there was clearly a need for this product after talking to a significant number of parents visiting the national mall during the smithsonian book fair. the insight provided allowed anthony to mature the idea from a focus solely on monitoring behavior and incorporated an educational and contract component that involved both parents and kids. initially parents and their kids sit down and draft up a contract using our system. this contract sets the rules determining which online behavior is appropriate or inappropriate. examples of inappropriate behaviors are: - bullying - foul language - revealing photos - posting during school hours - posting about il
