een van de eerste social media clubs in nederland: social media club utrecht (@smc030, #smc030). de eerste officiële bijeenkomst vond plaats op 10 maart 2010, in seats2meet maarssen. in twee jaar tijd groeide smc030 uit tot de grootste en meest actieve social media club van nederland. http://smc073.nl/2012/02/utrecht-gaat-net-boven-den-bosch/ social media club is een van origine amerikaans fenomeen. chris heuer en kristie wells startten maart 2006 in san francisco. de organisatie kent inmiddels meer dan 300 lokale activiteiten over de hele wereld. de club wil een platform en een ontmoetingsplaats zijn, waar professionals op het gebied van social media met ieder ander die professioneel geïnteresseerd is in het onderwerp face to face kennis en ervaringen kunnen uitwisselen. dit onder het motto: if you get it, share it! er zijn ook social media clubs in onder meer amsterdam, rotterdam en eindhoven. er zijn ontwikkelingen in o.a. arnhem, nijmegen, tilburg en haarlem.
