social robots inc. designs and develops applications and services that encourage people of all ages to be more socially connected with the help of robots. the company is designing new ways to reduce social isolation, loneliness and stress for seniors, family members and staff at retirement communities. our first solution is called lovemindy<tm>. moving into retirement communities can be stressful for seniors and their adult children who can't visit as often as they'd like. family members can subscribe to the service and upload photos, videos and news to share. mindy, the social robot, and her robot handler will visit select retirement residences for scheduled bi-weekly visits with seniors. visits will start with a basic 'family tree' so the robot handler knows "who's who in the zoo". mindy can play music, videos, show photos and can do some basic dialogue (most of the visit will be facilitated by the robot handler to start).
