la sociedad española de reumatología (ser) tiene como misión trabajar y relacionarse activa y positivamente con todos los agentes de interés en el campo de la reumatología. para ello, entre otras actividades, fomenta el estudio de las enfermedades reumáticas –enfermedades del sistema musculoesquelético y del tejido conjuntivo-, desarrolla trabajos, estudios y proyectos de investigación en reumatología y atiende los problemas relacionados con la especialidad. asimismo, brinda apoyo a los pacientes de enfermedades reumáticas a través de su relación con asociaciones que integran fundamentalmente a pacientes. en el área de docencia, la ser lleva a cabo un amplio número de cursos sobre todas las áreas de la reumatología y celebra dos simposios monográficos y un congreso cada año. actualmente, la ser representa a cerca de 1.600 profesionales en españa y mantiene contacto con las sociedades autonómicas de reumatología de todo el país.
