sociedade portuguesa de materiais - spm (portuguese materials society) is a scientific and technical nonprofit association. it´s mission concerns the implementation of spm in the national scientific community and in enterprises and the recognition of its role as an interlocutor by the government and other official entities. spm was founded in 1981 and aims to bring together all persons interested in promoting the development, progress and promotion of science and technology of materials. a sociedade portuguesa de materiais é uma associação científica e técnica, sem fins lucrativos. tem como missão a implantação da spm na comunidade científica nacional e nas empresas e o reconhecimento do seu papel como interlocutor por parte das entidades oficiais e governamentais. fundada em 1981, a spm tem por objectivo congregar todas as pessoas, singulares e colectivas, interessadas em promover o desenvolvimento, o progresso e a divulgação da ciência e tecnologia de materiais.
