Society of St. Vincent De Paul Chicago

the society of st. vincent de paul is the oldest charity in chicago serving those in need with basics for human dignity such as food, shelter and clothing. inspired by gospel values, the society of st. vincent de paul, a catholic lay organization, leads women and men to join together to grow spiritually by offering person-to-person service to those who are needy and suffering – regardless of creed, ethnic or social background, health, gender, or political opinions. two-by-two, our volunteers visit the homes of those who call upon us for help. we see and feel the struggles of our client-friends. we also serve the hungry and homeless at our community dinners and food pantries. we help with utility bills, rent, transportation and a myriad of other services requested by those threatened to slide down into poverty. the archdiocesan chicago council society of st. vincent de paul serves cook and lake counties and has over 3,000 vincentian volunteers operating out of 120 local churches.
