socks and ballerinas formed in 2016 as a result of an unexpected encounter between leo (guitar, fx) and katy (drums) in newcastle upon tyne, uk. the duo wanted to create an unpredictable mix of danceable instrumental live looping, offbeats and unusual structures to accompany funny colorful sounds; or just as an excuse to give silly names to their songs. through lots of work and sweat, they developed their own style: a two-person band sounding like a 5-men group. also through lots of weird sounds and rhythms... and pedals tap dancing. with time, life brought s&b to move to helsinki, where they recorded soap! after not too long. the soap! album is recorded live, self published and infused with love. after a year of gigs, the band is now working on some shiny new material.
