solar aquagrid is an advisory, envisioneering, and project development firm dedicated to reimagining our canals and aqueducts by accelerating the adoption of innovative solutions at the nexus of water and energy in the face of increasing drought and climate change. based in the bay area, solar aquagrid is a mission-driven enterprise that works at the intersection of science, design, engineering, technology, and common sense. our team believes that in an age of historic drought, our exposed canals, aqueducts, and large water conveyance systems should be covered to reduce evaporation and generate clean renewable energy to local communities across the arid west. most recently, solar aquagrid initiated project nexus, a pilot project funded by the state of california to study the benefits of installing solar panels over canals to reduce evaporation and generate clean energy at scale. it is a private-public-academic partnership between solar aquagrid, california department of water resour
