Soldiers Undertaking Disabled Scuba ( Suds)

soldiers undertaking disabled scuba (suds) is an adaptive scuba program working with injured service members returning from afghanistan & iraq. suds started in february of 2007 at walter reed national military medical center in bethesda md. the program uses scuba diving as a way to help facilitate the rehabilitation process and promote mobility while training our nations heroes with a skill that can be enjoyed throughout their life. to date we have trained approximately 500 injured soldiers. the initial training is done in the pool by an all volunteer staff and throughout the year certification dive trips are arranged to warm water locations to complete the scuba training. dive trips to places like kona hawaii, guantanamo bay cuba, ft lauderdale florida, rincon puerto rico,and dominican republic are provided at no cost to the suds participants and have proven to be life changing experience to those who participate. a suds is a 501 c 3 non-profit organization and a chapter of disabled s
