Soldiers Who Salsa

our mission: to enhance and enrich the lives of active and retired members of the u.s. armed forces and their families through a unique program incorporating therapeutic social dancing with a variety of music and professional instruction. we currently offer classes for patients at the naval medical center in san diego, naval hospital camp pendleton, and walter reed national military medical center. we began with amputees, and have expanded to include tbi (traumatic brain injury) and ptsd (post-traumatic stress disorder) patients. participants are encouraged to bring their significant others to enjoy the learning process together. the group has "outings" to local dance venues to both practice the dance moves and to socialize. plans are under development to add several different classes, both at nmcsd and other locations throughout the country. on facebook, we have a page under "soldiers who salsa" - please check it out!
