solent sailing is a small school with a carefully selected team of highly qualified skippers, all of whom aim to have fun afloat, whilst teaching as much as possible and allowing you to enjoy the thrill of sailing in the knowledge that you are being well looked after and kept safe. solent sailing is owned and run by alex day. with over 40 years’ sailing experience and a love of being on the water, alex enjoys sharing his knowledge and expertise with an enthusiastic crew. married with 4 children, alex understands that skills don’t always come quickly or easily, but with patience the rewards are worth striving for. at solent sailing we concentrate on the practical side of sailing. we operate out of hamble point marina and use some of the most comfortable yachts available. what's different about us? we run our courses over 6 days (instead of the usual 5) with a maximum of 4 pupils. with many other sailing schools the majority of teaching is undertaken in hard working, well utilised yachts
