the ngo solid house foundation kenya emerged in february 2011 from the international ngo solid house foundation, which had to discontinue its activities due to lack of funding. because we were working without funding (up to now), we could not keep the other 'big' programs going. the first one: 'school sanitation in nairobi and kajiado district' is now being implemented by a conglomerate of 5 ngo's (still) funded by dutch government. as small organisation we could not be part of the project and are happy to leave implementation to our colleagues. we wish them success. the second program "estates renewal and strategic housing vision in nakuru" was initially kept going because of the enthusiasm generated by the group of dutch architects. however time and money necessary for implementation was locally not available. fortunately, our local partner muungano is still assisting the beneficiaries in income generation (savings and loan). when their income is sufficiently raised, we hope to resta
