Somali Youth Leaders

somali youth leaders (syl) is an association of young leaders in different professions whose mission is to enable somali youth to actively participate in the country's development, stability and democracy. we focus on srh, gbv, fgm/c, peacebuilding and reconciliation, and youth innovations. this association, which is legally registered by the ministry of planning and international cooperation of the jubaland state of somalia, was founded in 2022 by indigenous young local professionals. syl aims to meet the high demand for education and provide a safe space for young people to learn and acquire life skills. we provide an array of opportunities to youth and adolescents, including formal and non-formal education that promotes literacy and numeracy, job-seeking opportunities, livelihoods, skills training and entrepreneurship that builds economic survival and leadership and conflict resolution training that strengthens civic participation and social cohesion. throughout these efforts, syl
