established in 2002, somebody cares grew steadily until 2016 when our growth became explosive. we provide food, furniture, clothing and more to the poor, the vulnerable and the marginalised of aberdeen city and shire. in the last year we have: - provided furnishings for more than 2,200 homes. - diverted over 470 tones of food and household goods from landfill. - worked with around 80 local agencies to cover as many vulnerable people as possible. - assisted thousands of families and individuals with food bags. - provided free clothes and school uniforms to more than 1,000 people. - generated around 70% of our required income from running the largest re-use megastore in scotland. we understand that we are unique in scotland as all assistance is provided completely free of charge. being based in aberdeen city, we have been impacted by the energy downturn. the number people needing our assistance has grown, but we have not attracted enough volunteers to support the additional requireme
