somos nlp is the international network of students, professionals and researchers working towards democratizing nlp in spanish. our objective is to create and share resources that enable and accelerate the development of nlp in spanish. ➡️ ¿why? • el español es el idioma oficial en 21 países (10%) y • somos más de 570 millones de hispanohablantes (8%). and yet... • en el 🤗 model hub hay 283 modelos en español (2%) y • 13 bases de datos monolingües en 🤗 datasets (1%). la investigación en este ámbito está centrada en el inglés y descuida las dificultades particulares del nlp en español. un idioma tan extendido (y bonito) como el español debería tener una representación acorde en el ámbito del nlp y vamos a hacer esto realidad. ➡️ ¿how? • creando bases de datos y facilitando el uso de las ya existentes • entrenando y "fine-tuning" modelos • divulgando los conceptos y arquitecturas fundamentales del nlp • organizando charlas, paneles y talleres • reuniéndonos para leer y debati
