in 1896 at the age of 21, henry somsen sr. established his legal practice in new ulm, mn, where he partnered with john lind through 1899. john lind later left the firm when was elected governor of minnesota. einar hoidale was a partner at the firm from 1900-1906. hoidale would later go on to become a member of congress. in 1909 w. h dempsey became a partner of the firm until 1946. after the death of his father in 1955, henry somsen jr. became a sole practitioner until 1964, when he partnered with terence m. dempsey, who established the firms sleepy eye, mn office. in 1972, william m. schade was added as an additional partner followed by steven j. franta in 1994, creating the firm of somsen, schade & franta. in 2003, somsen, schade & franta formed a partnership with the mueller lowther law firm, of new ulm, mn. the practice has since acquired the sommerness law firm of hutchinson, mn and the hauser & schmid law firm of sleepy eye, mn. today, somsen, mueller & franta pa, celebrates over
