sophia is an international member association for practitioners of health impact assessment (hia). sophia was formed in 2011 and has since grown to 530 members from 18 countries. we welcome all hia practitioners, whether experienced or novice, from any geographic region or country, and those with a broader interest in hia, to become members. please join us! our mission: sophia is an association of individuals and organizations providing leadership and promoting excellence in the practice of hia. our vision: sophia will be a leading network of hia practitioners. by promoting and practicing a thorough and systematic consideration of health in decision making, we work towards achieving better health for all. our values: as hia practitioners, our work will reflect the following core values: democracy, equity, sustainability, ethical use of evidence and a comprehensive approach to health. sophia is governed by a 10-member elected steering committee, and staffed by one part-time director and
