Sophie Bruère

the career of light artist sophie bruère began in the studio of ron arad in london in 1992 where she collaborated on the design of the foyer of the tel aviv opera house. in 1994, a year before graduating from the ecole nationale supérieure des arts décoratifs in paris, she met the light artist yann kersalé and worked on urban light installations with him as a design assistant for four years. in 1998, she left paris for new york city to join the lighting design firm l’observatoire international and worked on the lighting for brooklyn water treatment plan. since 2000, she has been working on her own urban and landscape installations for private and public clients. her light installations interrogate pre-existing lighting conditions and current luminous phenomenon to explore the immediate visibility of day and night light environments.
