i'm rarely at a loss for words, but as a visual artist, i prefer to speak through color, light, and line. born and raised by an artist and musician, my childhood dream was to be an artist. or to bake pies - maybe both. this mission was indicated early on in most self-portraits featuring a palette and beret (and often, pie). in college, i studied marketing for practicality and art history for my own delight. it was during a semester abroad in florence that i became smitten with the magic of italy, and rekindled of my childhood delight of making things. after a serious accident in 2012, i unexpectedly taught myself how to oil paint. moving vibrant, thick paint onto canvas quickly became the best medicine for both physical and mental recovery. the act of 'making' is more important (and sustaining) than my finished product. what i make usually ends up depicting something that brings me joy and peace. creating pleasing aesthetics, patterns, and colors actually seems to calm my brain and
