Sosna o.z.

sosna is a non-governmental environmental organization, founded in 1992, based and operating mainly in eastern slovakia, yet participating in number of international projects and gaining international recognition as well. since its beginning, sosna's work has been focusing on sustainability, localization and local communities, organic farming and permaculture, poverty reduction, appropriate technology, building designs and environmental education. being focused both socially and environmentally, sosna has built an environmental ecocentre to serve as an example of both sustainable and green office, community centre and ideas incubator with an organic garden. the whole complex is demonstrating the usability and beauty of open source appropriate technology and principles of sustainability and ecology – e.g. clay plasters, wool and straw and various types of organic insulation, composting toilets, rocket stoves, various types of solar and wind devices – parabolic and other types of cookers
