at soul care we seek to be more than counselors who happen to be christians. we believe the very real struggles that bring people to counseling are often symptoms of deeper psycho-spiritual heart problems. they are also powerful opportunities to engage the transformative power of the gospel and truly experience the hope, freedom and peace jesus promises. we believe god clearly can and does work through psychology-centered counseling, but that the heart’s deepest need is for much more than the nearly exclusive focus on psychological & relational dynamics of most therapists—even many christian ones. because of this, soul care's staff bring a unified counseling/spiritual direction approach to help individuals, couples and families. a medical metaphor is useful because a counselor's approach flows from what they believe the underlying source of a person's pain is and from their definitions of progress and health: treatment for chest pain will vary greatly if caused by anxiety vs. coronary
