sound east is the lowestoft and district talking newspaper charity. we started in 1979 and have over 53 volunteers. there are five other talking newspapers in suffolk, nine in norfolk and over 500 across the uk. sound east provides a weekly talking newspaper, a fortnightly information edition and an occasional talking magazine - all free of charge to any registered blind or partially sighted person who requests them! we cover the waveney area but also send our recordings to ex-pats around the country and abroad. the news edition is compiled from the pages of the lowestoft journal and includes all the main news items, along with the more interesting small articles, obituaries and details of duty chemists. the informer contains useful information such as details of upcoming local events, sports results, weddings, village news, entertainment and money saving offers. sound east extra is a monthly magazine produced with the assistance of a recorded version of the norfolk magazine, courtesy
