saide's mission is to increase equitable and meaningful access to knowledge, skills and learning through the adoption of open learning principles and distance education methods. services offered include: - support policy development - building capacity - facilitate programme and course design projects - facilitate materials design and development processes - promote the use, creation and sharing of oer - promote the appropriate use of technology - conduct monitoring and evaluation exercises - build and disseminate knowledge. although the use of distance education methods is most widely spread in higher education and teacher education, we also work in early childhood development, community education (including abet), schooling, and further education and training (technical and vocational education) sectors. oer africa is an innovative initiative established by saide to play a leading role in driving the development and use of open educational resources (oer) across all education sectors
