South Carolina Gay-Straight Alliance Network

mission: serving lesbian, gay, bi, trans and questioning (lgbtq) youth through support in creating and maintaining gay straight alliances (gsa's) in their schools as well as training sc school faculty and staff in lgbtq competency. description: students currently part of a gay straight alliance (gsa) at their school can utilize the scgsa network for mentorship in gsa maintenance and fundraising, for networking with members of other gsa's throughout south carolina, and for leadership development and resume building. students at a high school, college, or university without a gsa can contact the scgsa network for assistance in communicating with school administration, to understand the rights which have been secured for gsa's by the department of education, and basic guidelines for creating and funding a student group. the scgsa network also serves as a training resource for education professionals, including community agencies, counselors, and school faculty & staff on the topic of lgbt
