the mission of south carolina maritime foundation is to create opportunities for life-changing experiences resulting in leaders for tomorrow's communities. since the launch of the spirit of south carolina in 2007, over 7,000 students have participated in educational programs on board. in 2009, scmf expanded to land-based dropout prevention programming in charleston county as well. in two summer programs we served 80 students and are currently serving students at sanders-clyde elementary/middle school through our horizons afterschool program.
